Vermont "Do Not Mail" List                                              Spring 2008
The latest weigh-in was over 40 lbs of junk mail...for more information, read on!

The Vermont Legislature will be discussing a possible "Do Not Mail" list
in January, 2008.

The Environmental Law Society is hoping raise awareness of this issue a
couple of ways.

1.  With the school's permission and enough faculty student interest, we
need 40 people with the desire to collect the junk mail over the next 4
weeks.  Our goal is to have a plastic container in Chase Breezeway to
put the junk mail throughout these weeks.  At the end of the time
period, ELS will weigh out how much is being wasted on only 40 people
for 4 weeks.  If you are interested in being one of the 40 participants,
please email Joey Barnett at JBarnett@vermontlaw.edu.  First come, first served.

2.  If you don't want to collect your junk mail, just recycle it and
come sign a petition that will be right next to the container in Chase
Breezeway to show your support for the passing of the Do Not Mail List
bill.

3.  One of the best ways to get support is to have our local
representatives contacted and told of this issue.  We will also have a
list of the representatives' contact information, so you can call them
and express your concerns.  Instead of one group talking to all of the
representatives, we thought it would be better if individuals, as
constituents, would contact them.

Questions??  Email Joey Barnett at JBarnett@vermontlaw.edu
