BOOK DRIVE

The book drive was instituted 5 years ago in commemoration of Lauren Salb and Kimberly Koburn, two VLS students who died in a car crash.

Each year, the Lauren Salb and Kimberly Colburn Legal book drive collects new and used legal texts from students and faculty to donate to university law libraries in developing countries and nations with economies in transition.  The purpose is to promote the rule of law through capacity building and to facilitate reuse.  It contributes to the informed development of international law and facilitates contacts for potential study-abroad opportunities.  It also meets the missions of the American Bar Association, to promote the rule of law, and Vermont Law School’s motto, “Law for the Community and the World.”

The ILS shall fundraise for the costs of shipping.  The ILS shall collect books during the fall semester, preferably near holiday season, and ship books as soon as possible
