  
I. Mission Statement
- a. To provide a platform through which the Vermont Law School community may celebrate Judaism in an affirmative supportive environment. Additionally, the JLSA seeks to strengthen bonds with the greater community through embracing our Jewish identity.
II. Organization
- a. Executive Board
- i. President
- 1. A President is elected for a term of one academic year.
- a. President’s duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- i. Attend meetings, unless notice is given for excused absence
- ii. Set meeting times
- iii. Head of meetings: the President is responsible for guiding the direction of the meeting and discussion
- iv. Serve in a leadership capacity to further the vision and mission of the group
- ii. Vice President
- 1. A Vice President is elected for a term of one academic year.
- a. Vice President’s duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- i. Attend meetings, unless notice is given for excused absence
- ii. Serve as proxy and substitute for the President in the event of the President’s absence or incapacity
- iii. Act as a project advisor to committee heads
- iii. Secretary
- 1. A Secretary is elected for a term of one academic year.
- a. Secretaries duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- i. Attend meetings, unless notice is given for excused absence
- ii. Maintain a file of and take meeting minutes which the Secretary shall distribute to the entire group
- iii. Maintain JLSA database files including a roster of members and email list
- iv. Treasurer
- 1. A Treasurer is elected for a term of one academic year.
- a. Attend meetings, unless notice is given for excused absence
- b. Submit budget. The Treasurer shall submit an annual budget to the SBA in a timely manner each academic semester
III. General Operations
- a. Meetings
- i. During the academic year, meetings will be held regularly at a time decided by the group
- ii. Meetings shall be conducted informally under the guidance of the President.
- 1. The President may utilize parliamentary format according to Roberts’ Rules at his/her discretion to conduct
- a JLSA meeting
- b. Voting
- i. Nominations of officers are taken during the final month of the spring semester for service in the following academic year
- ii. Nominees are entitled, but not required to address the group on their qualifications
- iii. Officers are elected by a simple majority
IV. Budget
- a. The budget is prepared and submitted by the Treasurer to the executive committee for approval
- b. The budget must be adopted in a timely manner for both the spring and fall semesters according to the deadlines established by the SBA Treasurer.
- i. Budget shall be passed by a three-quarters (3/4) vote of the executive board
